Description
This scene shows Clear Creek with a narrow guage railroad trestle bridge crossing it. The location is Georgetown, a small, old mining town in the Rocky Mountains above Denver. The narrow gauge railroad was built to haul silver from the silver mines and passengers on what was called the Georgetown Loop. Completed in 1884, this spectacular stretch of three-foot narrow gauge railroad was considered an engineering marvel for its time. Today tourists can take a round trip ride between Georgetown and Silver Plume.
