It is somewhat jarring seeing this beautiful blue body of water in the devastated terrain near Lassen Peak at the Lassen Volcanic National Park. Yet here lies Lake Helen. The slope leading of the edge of the image in the background is Lassen Peak. In the center background is Eagle Peak. Lassen Volcanic National Park. Mount Lassen exploded into a cataclysmic eruption nearly 100 years ago. Much of the surrounding area still shows the effect.
