Description
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore was authorized by Congress in 1966. The association of State and National Parks contain a widw variety of landscape ranging from grasslands to mountainous sand dunes to sandy beaches. The national lakeshore runs for nearly 25 miles along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, in Beverly Shores, Indiana. Large sand dunes, which have taken thousands of years to form, tower nearly 200 feet above Lake Michigan.
